A Local’s Guide To Maroochydore

While many Australians make the annual pilgrimage to Maroochydore for a holiday, some lucky folks are fortunate enough to call this place home full time.

Often regarded as the beating heart of the Sunshine Coast, there’s no denying that Maroochydore has its own unique charms when compared to some of the other seaside villages that can be found in this part of Queensland.

If you don’t believe us, all you have to do is take a stroll through Cotton Tree Caravan Park come school holidays. It’s not uncommon to find visitors who have been coming to stay at Maroochydore for a beach holiday for three or four generations, and the trip has become somewhat of a tradition for many Australian families.

As such, it’s this attraction that has also contributed to the transient nature of Maroochydore. With a wealth of retail, hospitality, accommodation and tourism providers offering work to the suburbs residents, some pass through for a few months, while others find themselves living in Maroochydore or the Sunshine Coast in general for decades. As the owner of Sunshine Coast Cleans and a long time local, Adam certainly understands the appeal.

“Maroochydore just has something special about it, and living here almost feels like everyday is a holiday. You can take a stroll down the Esplanade and have an ice cream on a Saturday afternoon and take a swim at the beach, but still have access to everything you could ever possibly need with Sunshine Plaza not far away either.”

Adam’s Top Picks For Things To Do In Maroochydore

Since Adam and his wife Rachel have spent most of their adult life exploring the many pockets of the Sunshine Coast, it’s fair to say that he’s accumulated a few preferred ways to pass the time when he’s not busy at work. Whether you’re also a longtime local or perhaps just stopping by, Adam votes the following as must do’s while in the area.

Stand Up Paddle Boarding – The waters along the Maroochydore River are regarded as calm, and relatively safe from both tidal and boats. As such, it’s a great way to get outdoors and get some exercise if you’ve had enough of laying by the pool or the beach.

Maroochydore Surf Club – Arguably one of the most iconic venues found in this pocket of the Sunshine Coast, the Maroochydore Surf Club is an institution famous for its affordable feeds and family friendly atmosphere during both the day and the night.

Ocean Street World Festival – Held in April every year, the annual Ocean Street World Festival transforms one of Maroochydore’s most famous streets into a celebration of international cultures, and includes a huge variety of food, music and art for all to enjoy.

Chambers Island – Somewhat of a local secret, Chambers Island is located directly opposite Bradman Avenue on the Maroochydore River. Grab the fishing rods out, grab your boogie boards and a picnic, and walk over the small foot bridge to the clear waters of Chambers.

StrEATside Market – As a somewhat new addition to the Maroochydore food scene, StrEATside Market is open every Sunday for visitors to sample a huge variety of food stalls and trucks, drinks and even live music to boogie to if the feeling strikes.

The thing about Maroochydore is that there’s quite literally something for everyone. Fancy a cocktail on a Friday night? Head down to Mooloolaba and stop by one of the many bars or pubs. Is a picnic by the beach with the kids more your style? No problem, Cotton Tree is ready and waiting. Needless to say, beach lovers are also spoilt for choice too and will have a hard time deciding on a patch of sand to park up on for the day.

As such, it’s no surprise that moving to Maroochydore is on the minds of many, particularly given our current global climate. At the end of the day, lifestyle is everything – especially if you’re considering joining a community of like minded individuals such as those found in Maroochydore.

Your Local Maroochydore Bond Cleaners

Sunshine Coast Cleans has been a labour of love for Sunny Coast locals, Adam and Rachel. Although both had been heavily involved in the professional cleaning, hospitality and administration in Queensland and right around Australia for almost three decades, they noticed a significant gap between the needs of their community versus the quality of work that was on offer in the area for things like bond cleans, builders cleans and even commercial cleaning.

If you’re on the move around the Sunny Coast, for many people this means the end-of-lease clean, and finally facing up to the monstrous dust clouds and terrifying patches of mould you’ve spent the past year convincing yourself don’t exist. However, Adam, Rachel and the entire team at Sunshine Coast Cleans are local industry professionals that are able to offer an alternative to dealing with this yourself. For first time clients on the hunt for our region’s best bond clean providers, we even offer a 10% discount.
